Series/Fandom: FFVII

Age: unknown; is described as a 2000+ year specimen excavated from the ground, but it's implied that she's been traveling from world to world and devouring their individual Lifestreams before finding the Planet and she still looks like a young woman
Gender: dubiously female; in regards to her power, she is able to change the form of her cells, even from male to female
Species: extraterrestrial; alien virus with the ability to take physical form
Sexuality: everything and nothing all in one; it goes beyond male/female... would-be goddesses can be strange like that sometimes

Appearance: Jenova's an alien virus with shapeshifting abilities. Her usual form consists of a vaguely female humanoid shape, skin that is both blue and patterned similar to old burn scars, and tentacles that occasionally have the look of spilled intestines if she cares to walk on two feet, a frothy bell of them from the waist down if she doesn't. She has two non-matching structures growing from her back like a pair of carven wings. In canon flashbacks, she is missing arms (and depending when you see her, a head). This would be a rather inconvenient being to play, so in this version she comes complete with long, violet-silver hair and glowing purple eyes, as well as two arms and ten fingers. The stone-like wings are missing (for obvious reasons), and for the most part, the tentacle-y and coral-like bits.

Personality: Jenova is much like her son; very proud and fancies herself a goddess. She can be very single-minded; usually bent on destruction, but also on demanding total obedience from her 'children'. While this normally includes only those who have been injected with Jenova cells (obedience, because she thinks she is entitled to it considering all the gifts her cells give them), she does have a habit of making nice with others that she meets, and summarily 'adopting' them for her own uses either in present or in future (waste not, want not). She does not talk, not usually. Rather she has a tendency to mind-speak, and when she does, occasionally her consciousness will grow distracted and fragmented, and her speech will follow suit. She can be easily angered, and in such cases, she will use her powers without much regard for silly things like morals or ethics (those are only for before the first blow has been thrown, as far as she's concerned), to make the other suffer as much as she is able. Mindfuckery is something she excels in and regularly practices. Because she feeds on the Lifestream, and thus the lives and consciousnesses of billions of people, plants, etc. on multiple worlds, she has an amalgamation of all those lives residing in her. This may lead to some occasional mental and emotional outbursts that are not entirely hers, but drawn through countless 'remembered' experiences.

Abilities/Strengths: As mentioned above, she can shapeshift. Usually, she does it only to make superficial changes to her regular form, however she is able to break down wholly into a cell-by-cell nature without much negative effect. Aside from that, she can take on the forms of other people/beings though she will only do this through necessity or, if she happens to be in the process of chastizing/punishing someone, if she can draw on an memory that will hurt them, she can take on that image, that voice. She can speak mind-to-mind, and if the other person has no psychic barriers up against her, can rifle through their memories as if through an organic filing cabinet. This works most reliably with those she has 'gifted' with her cells, and she does have a measure of control over them, depending on the level of Jenova cells in their altered genetic makeup. If push comes to shove, she can also fight, transforming into progressively more and more inhuman forms of herself with a combination of magical and physical attacks at her disposal. Like her son, she can also fly, not through use of her 'wings', but rather through the use of power and the not-uniquely Square ability to defy conventional physics. In Luceti, she can't do even this, and has to be satisfied with going from rooftop to rooftop or tree to tree.

Weaknesses: While she arguably cannot be killed, she can be defeated by conventional weapons. She can feel pain, though she is not often incapacited by it, and can lose such things major parts of her body (e.g. her head) without ill effect, but she is inherently practical and does not take well to being hacked to bits. It does take time to regenerate after all, and bring together that which is scattered. On a more social level, she is easily angered, and her pride easily hurt. Those that have the greatest effect on her are those who possess her cells, who know the most about her and yet continue to defy her. Incidentally, they're also the ones who could probably be the ones who deal the most physical damage to her as well. Especially if they happen to be carrying around a Holy materia.

Notable Possession: a helmet, inscribed with her name and the date of her excavation

History: Jenova was born through mutation, a split-off variant of her own 'Mother', that was cast out to wander the worlds, subverting, feeding on, infecting, and multiplying to spread like the alien virus she is. No one is quite sure exactly how old she is since she predates records of the Planet, however when she was discovered she was said to have been buried around 2000 years before present day, and mistakenly labeled as an Ancient (a race of civilization that predates the present day with powers closely linked to the Planet). She held out the hand of friendship towards these Ancients once and they believed her, until she nearly destroyed their race, her cells mutating them into monsters. She possessed the Black materia that had the ability to call down a giant Meteor which would fatally wound the Planet, causing it to destroy all life on it to try and heal itself with the Lifestream, which she would subsequently consume.

She was defeated by the Ancients and the Holy materia, a power that could control the Lifestream and fight off both the effects of Meteor, and her physical form. She was buried under the earth for thousands of years until she was discovered and excavated. Through constant experimentation of taking her cells and injecting them into host bodies, SOLDIER was born, an elite fighting force with abilities enhanced beyond that of normal humans. Sephiroth was created similarly, except the cells were introduced in him at a fetal stage so that he was more closely tied to Jenova, and so most susceptible to her influence.

Using as her weapon, she drives him to madness so that he burns down the town of Nibelheim and attacks those that had been his friends. While he is defeated, he was able to take her head, performing the Reunion and marrying his power to hers before he falls down into a mako reactor. Several years later, Sephiroth has passed through the Lifestream across the Planet and resurfaces to send his will (and Sephiroth clones) running amok over the Planet, killing some, hurting others, and generally calling for the end of the world, just the way she wants it.

Once again, both Jenova and Sephiroth are defeated. A year after that, her influence reappears in the form of Geostigma, a disease that shows up as a slow and painful blackening and rotting of the skin on various parts of the exposed body that seemed only to affect children and (assumedly) those previously injected with Jenova cells, which gives her some measure of control over them. However, this plot also fails because all three of Sephiroth's Remnants were not able to complete the Reunion and bring him back whole before he fought Cloud.
